Don’t Miss the Digital Money Train

I feel like now is the best time for me to bring this issue to your attention. I believe that it may have become more apparent that the world will never go back to how it was Pre Covid-19. Now is the start of the next industrial revolution (4th Industrial Revolution) and I DO NOT want you to be left behind.

In the 4th Industrial Revolution, 43% of all jobs will be wiped out with the majority being service-based. If you don’t believe me watch this TED Talk that was done by Manuel Muñiz in 2017.

I have been referencing this video since 2017, and now is the time that companies will begin to make their shift.

Companies will shift their business model to having more people work from home and figuring out how to shrink their workforce.

This will be done through automation (touch screens to take orders, robots, and computer applications) and moving to smaller offices. They will be looking for ways to increase productivity while decreasing their total workforce size.

You may be wondering,

What can you do to make sure that you do not face your job being in danger long term?

The answer is simple, you must increase your technical skills

There are 7 main tech fields/skills that I believe will be in high demand for the next 30 years.

7 Skills/Career to Focus On

  • Cloud computing

  • Cybersecurity

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI)

  • Big Data/Data Science

  • Technical Project Management

  • Software Engineering

  • Alternate Reality and Virtual Reality

Cloud Computing

Cloud computing is the on-demand delivery of IT resources over the Internet with pay-as-you-go pricing. Instead of buying, owning, and maintaining physical data centers and servers, you can access technology services, such as computing power, storage, and databases, on an as-needed basis from a cloud provider like Amazon Web Services (AWS).

For cloud computing, I recommend that everyone takes a look into Amazons AWS cloud services. My good friend Ari has a blog post talking about how she obtained her AWS certification.

It is a relatively low-cost certification ($150) and can be completed at home.

Cybersecurity

Cybersecurity is necessary to keep mobile apps, company data, customer data, wifi networks, computer networks...basically anything that is online secure. Cybersecurity professionals work to keep all of these types of networks and applications secure. To get into cybersecurity you want to first learn about computer networking then start learning about how to secure networks.

CompTIA Network+ and Security+ certifications are good places to start.

Big Data/Data Science

Big Data/Data Science is needed because companies deal with large data sets that need to be analyzed, put in formats to be more easily understood for manipulation, and visualized. It takes a specialized skill set to be able to achieve these goals.

I suggest people check out tableau for data visualization. If you have a .edu email you can try it out for free. Tableau knowledge/experience can allow you to earn up to 300K a year.

Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence (AI) will be used to make software smarter by learning from experience and to quickly learn users to provide the best user experience.

Technical Project Management

Technical project management is important because all projects need to be effectively managed from start to finish. Project managers ensure that all parties involved in a project are completing work on time, within budget, and within scope.

To get into technical project management SCRUM Master certifications, Six Sigma certifications, and Project Management Professional (PMP) certifications are good to have.

Software Engineering

Software engineers will be needed to continue to create new software applications for at least the next 30 years. Some people believe that AI will be smart code application and replace software engineers, but that will not be happening anytime soon. To get into software engineering you need to either teach yourself how to code, attend a Bootcamp, or go to school for computer science.

Check out FreeCodeCamp and Codecademy to get your feet wet.

Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality

Augmented Reality (AR) Virtual Reality (VR) will change the way that we experience technology as we know it today. Being able to mix the virtual world with the physical world will create new experiences.

How you should move forward?

This is not an email to scare you, it is to inform you of what is to come and to start thinking about how you will make yourself marketable and valuable in the next industrial revolution.

I want you to walk away from this email thinking about how you are going to secure your future long term. How you can fit into these industries of the future.

It is more important now than ever before.

Start doing some research then take action.
